Definition of Descriptive Text Basically, descriptive text is a text that aims to explain, describe, or describe something. This thing can take the form of anything, be it animals, objects, locations, and so on. Usually descriptive text is characterized by the use of easy tense and focuses on one specific object. The object is then discussed again in more detail in the descriptive text. 

Descriptive text describes something in more detail. Descriptive text can also mean: Descriptive text provides information about how something or someone looks, this text uses words to describe what something or someone is like. Descriptive text also provides facts about how Indonesian is actually used according to the rules and how this text should be used. Generic Structure of Descriptive Text Descriptive text has its own rules regarding its structure. 


The following is the generic structure of descriptive text: 

1. Identification This section, located in the first paragraph, aims to identify an object to be described. Identification serves to introduce the reader to the object that we are going to explain, before we tell about the object in more detail in the next paragraph 

2. Description This section, located in the second paragraph and so on, contains the characteristics inherent in something that you have introduced to the reader in the first paragraph.

Borobudur temple
Indonesia has several beautiful tourist resorts. One of them is Borobudur Temple, located in Central Java. Borobudur is even listed as one of the wonders of the world that deserves to be preserved. Borobudur is the largest work of art since ancient times and is famous throughout the world.

In the 8th century more precisely in the Syailendra Dynasty there had been the construction of this Borobudur Temple. The temple is the largest temple in the world which in its construction requires two million river rocks.

 In addition, many tourists visit this place after experiencing several restorations, both domestic and foreign tourists. Borobudur Temple is known for its elegance, relief story located on the wall and the beauty of the temple.

For many foreign tourists who visit the Borobudur Temple use the services of a travel agency so that it is more effective in terms of travel schedules, accommodation and transportation. As for many domestic tourists who use private cars or buses when visiting Borobudur Temple. At the temple location money exchange is also provided for foreign tourists. So they are easier to exchange money. Some foreign tourists also prefer to carry checks and credit cards rather than having to exchange money.

So what is meant by descriptive text is written work or writing that describes something. There are several definitions of Descriptive Text, namely; -Text that provides information about how something or someone looks, sounds, using words to describe what something or someone looks like. -Text that gives facts about how language is actually used rather than rules that tell people how it should be used. From the two definitions above, it can be concluded that descriptive text is a type of text that describes a certain person, thing or place so that the reader can imagine as if what is being told is really real. 

Characteristics of Descriptive Text 

a. Descriptive Text uses verb attributes, such as be (am, is, are)

 b. Descriptive Text using simple present tense 

c. Descriptive Text only focuses on that one object. 

d. Descriptive Text uses adjectives 

e. Descriptive Text using interesting language
